2. Exploring the Kuiper Belt

One and possibly two Kuiper Belt objects have so far been selected for New Horizons to visit. Scientists are interested in the composition, size and surface features of these objects. The larger ones may even have an atmosphere of sorts.

There is much to be learned about these objects and the New Horizons mission will greatly increase our knowledge about these mysterious objects on the edge of the solar system.
